Three years ago, I made the decision to
purchase a Larick 410 Shape and Sand Machine to sand both straight and arched
raised panels for cabinet doors. We already were using two shape and sand
machines by another manufacturer, but felt the Larick machine would give us two
distinct advantages. First, we could shape and sand arched raised panels.
Secondly, we could easily change the speed of both sanding heads to accommodate
the types of wood we wanted to sand.
Once our machine was in place and put into production, we quickly began to see a
definite improvement in the quality of our finished panels as well as
substantial cost savings on labor. We also began to notice several other
advantages over prior methods of production. We found that changing from one
pattern to another was simplified and quicker due to easy front access to the
heads being changed. The digital readouts and adjustment wheels were also
extremely helpful.
We began to see so many uses for our Larick 410 that we purchased another one in
January of 1999 to speed up production in our framing department. We have now
purchased our third machine to shape and sand cabinet tops.
Another reason we’ve had such good feelings about our machines is the Larick
sanding wheel. Once we mastered the art of putting the stretchable sandpaper on
the wheel, we have seen great production results and feel for each of our
machines, we save labor cost of at least one half employee yearly.
As far as the durability of a Larick Machine, we have had no down time
attributed to either machine and fully expect them to run eight hours a day,
five days per week for years to come. If you ask me, you can’t buy a better
shape and sanding machine for the money.

A little over 1 year ago, we made the decision
to purchase a Larick 410 Shape and Sand Machine to replace our existing shaper.
We planned to shape and sand both straight and arched raised panels for cabinet
doors and to process our solid wood drawer fronts. This machine had two distinct
appeals for our company. First, it changed what had previously been a 6-step
process into a 1-step process. Secondly, we sell many different varieties of
wood and it is truly a time saver to be able to just adjust the speed of the
sanding heads for the kind of wood being processed.
Once this machine was up and running we noticed a definite improvement in the
sanded quality of the panels and drawers. We were able to almost completely
eliminate any hand sanding which saved substantially on labor costs. It has
enabled us to use fewer men to produce more products.
The Larick sanding wheel is unique and while it takes a bit to gain the art of
applying the stretchable sandpaper, the end results are worth it.
We have our machine running daily and have had no problems to speak of. The
digital readouts and adjustment wheels make this an easy machine to use. We
definitely would recommend the Larick Shape and Sand as a valuable asset for any
shop.
